Activity Boxes
Activity | Information | How many will it occupy |
Soft Tomahawk throwing | Three bristle targets with tomahawks and throwing stars. No permit required but MUST be supervised by adults in a roped off area (ropes provided). Whilst it is primarily aimed at the younger elements of Scouting, it seems that Explorers think it is cool! | We recommend 2 people to each target at any given time. |
Pioneering and mini pioneering | We have a set of full-size pioneering poles and a smaller set – this has been created from coppiced wood and poles are a maximum of 6 feet high. Rope is also available | Up to you |
Archery | We have 3 bosses and bows and arrows for 6 archers. . The is led by a fully qualified archery instructor. Anyone with the necessary permits is welcome to lead the sessions | We recommend allowing 1 hour for 12 archers with each archer getting 30 mins on the range. This includes a short safety talk |
Den Building | This box is located at the bottom of the FlagField and is available free of charge | This is den building for Beavers and Cubs and contains canes and plastic sheets. |
Kubb | Kubb is a lawn game where the objective is to knock over wooden blocks (kubbar) by throwing wooden batons (kastpinnar) at them. Kubb can be described as a combination of bowling and horseshoes | We recommend having 6 people playing each game at once (3 on each team) |
Da Vinci Bridge | This box contains the makings of a Da Vinci bridge which can be climbed on. For those not in the know, a Da Vinci bridge is created by placing wooden blocks so they interlock and support them selves . | Ideal for a group of 4-6 at a time |
Orienteering without compasses | This is aimed at mainly Beavers and Cubs and contains 14 small wooden plaques each of which has a letter and the name of a bird burnt into it. It also contains maps of the site. | This can be used with any size group but does require you to put the plaques in place before hand and mark up a map and collect the up afterwards |
Giant Games | This contains a giant jenga, twister, giant chess, hopscotch, giant snakes and ladders, giant Noughts and Crosses | We recommend that this box caters for 16 people playing a game simultaneously |
Circus skills | This box contains diablos, yoyos, juggling balls, spinning plates and Kendama | We recommend that this box caters for 20 people. |
Outdoor Games | Horseshoe tossing, a swingball set and quoits (hoopla) | The box caters for up to 16 people. This is dependent on the size you make your teams |
Frisbee Golf | This box contains numbered cones and ring frisbees to set up your own frisbee golf course | We recommend that this box caters for up to 12 people playing at once |
Parachute Games | This box contains a parachute, foam footballs and beanbags to run your own parachute games | We recommend that this box caters for up to 24 people |
Wide Games | Equipment for Capture the Flag, Kick Can Coppit and the one where you tie wool round your arm | This box can cater for 24+ people |
Indoor Activities | Colouring sheets and crayons, playing cards, indoor board games | This box is still being developed |
